Some academic colleges and departments at Texas Tech only accept students who meet assured admission requirements:

Assured admission will be granted to all students who hold competitive scholarships awarded by an official Texas Tech University scholarship committee.

ADMISSION. If you do not meet assured admission requirements, an admissions committee will evaluate your potential based on other criteria including high school course work, honors/advanced placement courses, extracurricular activities, civic or community service, leadership experience, family educational and socioeconomic background, diversity of experience and affiliation with Texas Tech.

Students whose applications will be reviewed are strongly encouraged to submit the optional information – an ApplyTexas application essay, up to three letters of recommendation and any other information that will help the committee make an informed decision.

ARE YOU HOMESCHOOLED? The admission requirements for students who have been home schooled are the same as for students who have attended traditional public or private schools. A transcript with all course work, completed and in progress, is required with the application, test score and application fee or waiver.

ARE YOU GRADUATING EARLY? You must submit all application materials and verification of early graduation. A letter from your high school counselor or an indication on the official transcript is acceptable for verification. Early graduates are required to meet regular freshman admission requirements. An essay explaining the purpose or reason for early graduation is helpful.
