My Tech Testimony:
Deciding to come to Texas Tech was a really big decision for me to make. Coming from a very traditional Latino family no one in my family seemed to understand why it was necessary for me to move almost 500 miles away. All I knew was that I wanted to move away and to have the opportunity to focus on school and growing up on my own. Not knowing if I was making the right decision, I ignored everyone and did what I thought was needed for me to continue my dreams of going away for college. Once I got up to Tech I loved every single minute of it and I knew I had made the best decision of my life. The classes were not as hard as I thought college classes may be. I made a ton of friends, and living in my 11th floor dorm room gave me one of the best views on campus. I joined a few student organizations where I was able to take on some leadership roles. I’ve also been fortunate to get a couple of jobs on campus like at the Barnes & Noble’s College Bookstore, University Housing at Coleman Hall and then finally working here in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. I love being able to work with students and give them the same chance and opportunity of having an awesome college experience as I have been able to enjoy.
My Advice:
Make sure you take care of important things like orientation, housing, parking, contacting your roommate and start getting ready for an awesome year here at Raiderland!
