Deon Newsom earned a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University where he majored in Mass Communication and minored in Public Relations. An advocate for under-served student populations, Deon began his professional career working with the UT Arlington Upward Bound Program. At Tech, Deon is responsible for recruitment within the South Dallas/ South Fort Worth market. He enjoys giving college advice to students, especially to those who think post-secondary education is beyond their reach.

Deon is a Texas native and enjoys all that the DFW area has to offer with family and friends. He is a self-proclaimed pop culture junkie and likes to leisure read, listen to music and try new foods whenever possible.
