What was one of your favorite things to do outside of class?

“My favorite thing about Texas Tech was the ample opportunities to be involved on campus. I was involved in clubs ranging from Ag Council and Collegiate 4-H, to campus-wide organizations such as President’s Select and Student Alumni Board. Studying and ‘making the grade’ is one of the most important things in college, but it’s also about developing friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime.”

A native of Floydada, TX, Spencer handles recruitment for the Panhandle and Wichita Falls area. “I know what it is like to go from a smaller community to a campus that has over 30,000 students. It may seem intimidating, but the students of Tech and residents of Lubbock make the transition VERY easy. It was always my home away from home.”

Any favorite places to eat in Lubbock?

Definitely check out Caprock Cafe when you come to visit Lubbock if you want the best hamburger in town, or Cancun’s if you want some true Tex-Mex.

What are some gateways unique to Lubbock?

Something that is less advertised is the close proximity to the mountains. While some might be hitting the beach during Spring Break, I was hitting the slopes. My favorite memories were made going on ski trips to New Mexico and Colorado, which are about a 6-8 hour drive away depending on which resort you go to.
